Chemistry students practice presentation skills at Castle Conference
The USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry held its annual Raymond N. Castle Student Research Conference in early March. The conference, which is organized largely by students, showcases both undergraduate and graduate student research with the intent for “young scientists to develop the necessary communication skills to excel in the future.”

Conference on im/migrant well-being launches new center
The USF College of Arts and Sciences’ Im/migrant Well-Being Research Center and co-sponsor Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute at The George Washington University (GWU) hosted the inaugural biennial conference, “Im/migrant Well-Being: A Nexus for Research & Policy” at the Hilton, St. Petersburg on February 17-18.

The USF College of Arts and Sciences welcomed Dr. Vandana Shiva, a food sovereignty, environmental and ecofeminist activist, for its recent Frontier Forum lecture series held at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 7 in downtown Tampa.

Students taking part in the USF College of Arts and Sciences Legislative Internship Program (LIP) within the School of Public Affairs were part of a group of 100 students and alumni who made a trip up to Tallahassee, Fla. for USF Day at the Capitol held on Feb. 8.

USF Institute on Black Life conference focuses on arts, health and healing
The USF Institute on Black Life (IBL) hosted its annual conference for the first time on the Sarasota-Manatee campus on Feb. 2. The conference, co-hosted by the USF Center for PAInT and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, centered on the theme of “Arts, Health, and Healing for African American Community Empowerment.”
